Custom designed after consultation with group organizers,
as ZEBRA learns about
Learning objectives generally revolve around communication, relationship-building, collaborative decision-making and resilience
Workshops can take many forms, from a one hour inservice to 2-6 hour interactive sessions with patient support or professional groups;; from all day continuing education accredited courses, to professional education term-long weekly classes to interactive virtual sessions.
Learning activities include, as required to meet objectives:
literature review presentation, improv activities (games), performance pieces, writing/creating, and demonstration of applied improv principles within the context of the learners'/players' personal and/or professional worlds.
But yes...mostly playing (learning)
IAMAZEBRA creates, produces and performs targeted comedic sketches and shows that reflect the experiences of all the stakeholders across healthcare. These performances use humor and satire to illuminate and give voice to the variant perspectives across all the joys & trials, challenges & triumphs, epiphanies & confusion, delights & grievances inherent in this universal human experience
These bespoke pieces are used within the context of workshops
or as stand-alone performances
to prompt and support the many challenging and ofttimes difficult conversations within healthcare that need to be laid bare if we and our system are to be healthy.
IAMAZEBRA creates spaces for groups of individuals who inhabit similar circumstances within healthcare (e.g. a practice group, a patient support group) to gather and engage in improv games that:
IAMAZEBRA provides improv experiences within social settings to support the acquisition and enhancement of resilience skills
The role of improv, humor, comedy, satire and theater more broadly within medicine and healthcare continues to be explored across the worlds of medicine, healthcare, the humanities and theater. IAMAZEBRA researches these relationships on an ongoing basis. IAMAZEBRA has presented on the topic at conferences and can customize a presentation for groups to share our understandings and considerations about how to apply knowledge of the integration of these concepts and move it forward.
Workshops, when appropriate (e.g. when CE accredited), include presentations of literature and evidence.
All aspects of the event design are customized, including: learning objectives & curricular specifics (activities and timeline), duration, number of participants, logistical requirements, continuing education credit acquisition and compensation. the first skit which was frighteningly realistic. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
THANK YOU!"

“Thank you, Ingrid, for telling your story. As someone with a chronic illness who's been misdiagnosed many a time, it really resonated with me. Hearing your story, I felt less alone in my experiences and inspired by your strength and humor. It's a very important story and I'm grateful that I got the chance to hear it.”
